Celebrate Garnock Valley Wildlife

Go Wild in Garnock has teamed up with SWSEIC to develop a suite of events celebrating our wildlife - and we'd love you to be there!

You might have seen our recent social media posts and wondered what it's all about. Well, this year is the FIRST South West Scotland Environmental Information Centre Annual Wildlife Recording Gathering to take place in the Garnock Valley!

With so much wonderful wildlife on our doorsteps, we wanted to give you the chance to explore some of the area's best places for nature with experts on hand to help you hone your wildlife watching skills.

That's why we've organised several guided walks throughout November in addition to our series of online talks. They're a great opportunity to get out into nature, meet other wildlife enthusiasts and learn more about the natural world.

We're keen to spread the word not just to seasoned wildlife recorders, but to anyone and everyone who shares our love of nature. Peter Norman, SWSEIC's Project Officer, explains why: "Sharing sightings of wildflowers, shells, bees, birds or other wildlife with other recorders is a good way to learn."

Developing your identification skills is a great way of being mindful, too. Our Wildlife Recording Assistant says that "learning to identify different species makes me slow down, look at the details, and really experience the moment."

Not to mention, you don't have to go anywhere special or have any fancy kit - "wildlife watching can take place whilst walking the dog, visiting towns, parks and gardens, or indeed anywhere," says Peter.

So - what are you waiting for? Head over to our Events Page to book your space. We're looking forward to seeing you!
