Winter Wildlife Days
After a successful programme of wildlife identification days over the summer, we’re very excited to announce our new partnership with The Conservation Volunteers, who will be taking the lead on our winter events.
As specialists in inspring people about nature and conservation, TCV are the perfect partners to highlight some of the wonderful winter wildlife around the Garnock Connections area.
The first event will allow participants to take part in the Dead Good Deadwood Survey at Eglinton Country Park on Thursday 14th November. Find out how trees still play a vital part in an ecosystem, even once they’ve reached the end of their life.
After that, we’ll be heading to RSPB Lochwinnoch for some pond dipping and birdwatching on the 21st November, followed by a winter tree ID day on the 28th. This reserve is home to a wealth of wintering wildfowl and a host of fascinating pond life.
Finally, we’ll be looking at hedgehogs as part of TCV’s exciting HogWatch project. Join us at Barrmill Community Garden on Wednesday 4th December, where you can find out how to identify signs of these charismatic creatures, along with other small mammals.
