Heritage Trainees
It can often be difficult for talented individuals to break in to the heritage conservation field. Lack of opportunities to develop skills, high competition for few roles and a lack of confidence amongst others can all be barriers to young people progressing in this sector. This project aimed to tackle this by providing individuals the chance to develop their skills and experience whilst also helping to deliver the Garnock Connections project.
Ten different trainees have been employed on the project on contracts up to twelve months over the duration of Garnock Connections. They have worked on different aspects of the project including wildlife recording, volunteering, oral history, events and communications. Each trainee had the opportunity to attend training courses to develop their skills in particular areas of interest.

This project was also funded by the Green Infrastructure Community Engagement Fund.
