Raising the Bogs at Bankhead Moss

Raised bogs are one of our most wildlife-rich habitats, but they are also one of the rarest. Many bogs are drying out due to encroaching vegetation and too much drainage.

We're looking for volunteers to help us out at Bankhead Moss, near Beith, by clearing the vegetation and helping the bog maintain its natural, wet state. No previous experience of this kind of work is necessary, as full instruction will be given. It will also be an excellent opportunity to learn about some of the unique species found on the site.

Places are limited and as the bog is on Ministry of Defence land, we must have details of all participants beforehand. If you'd like to come along or have any questions, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 07725216483. Places must be confirmed no later than Monday 27th January.
